Process of Interior Design Services

 

 

PROJECT INITIATION

Step 1: Consultation

Every project starts with a working consultation. This is an opportunity for you to share your hopes for the design process and for me to walk your space while offering suggestions for paint colors and general layout.

Step 2: Project Acceptance

I'll ask you to commit to the project by signing an agreement and scheduling Trade Day.

 

PHASE 1: DISCOVERY, DESIGN, DELIVERY

Step 3: Trade Day

After reviewing my notes from our consultation with an initial design direction and scope, I will schedule a return visit with my contractor and any other trades people who will be involved in the project (Trade Day). I will use this time to take all measurements of existing spaces within the scope and I will take inventory of any pieces that will be reused in the design.

Step 4: Design/Documentation

After Trade Day, the behind the scenes design work begins. Even though you will not see the work that’s taking place, this is where the vision starts to come together. I will create detailed drawings as needed and I will begin sourcing furnishings, fixtures, paint colors, wall coverings, window treatments, rugs and other details.  The design process can take 4-6 weeks for me to complete depending on the scope of work and I will update you with weekly emails about where I am in the process. 

Step 5: Presentation

Next step is the presentation! At this meeting you will see the floor plans, detail drawings, mood boards with paints, fabrics and furniture/fixture selections. I’ll provide you with cut sheets and pricing of all products for your approval. 

 

 

PHASE 2: PURCHASING, CONSTRUCTION

Step 6: Order Placement

Once I have final written approval of all design and selections, I will collect a deposit and begin placing orders. All furnishings will be shipped to my receiving warehouse and held until your installation date. Some custom items may take 10-12 weeks to arrive. I take care of all steps involved in bringing your design to reality and work through any issues with suppliers. 

Step 7: Construction/Painting

Meanwhile, the tradesmen will be completing any work (flooring refinishing, electrical, carpentry, wallpaper) and once all of the items have been received we will schedule installation day!

 

 

PHASE 3: FINISHING TOUCHES

Step 8: Furniture Installation/Styling

Our vision comes together! On installation day, I arrange furniture delivery, install art and style the space(s) for your big reveal.

Step 10: Project Closure

After the final walkthrough, I will provide you with any additional documentation and final invoices will be issued.
